Kansas City In Transition

How long will it take brand new Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid to produce a winner in Kansas City? The short answer is that it depends pretty much on how much talent he will be given to work with in fantasy football money leagues over the next three seasons.

That’s right, three seasons. Because that is the minimum amount of time that it will take Reid to start being able to right the ship in Kansas City even if their best player in fantasy football money leagues, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, decides to stick around. Before we move on, let’s focus for a second on Bowe. Bowe is a supremely talent wide receiver, with great size and great hands, and there is honestly no good reason why he should want to stick around in Kansas City where there is currently no suitable quarterback in fantasy football money leagues. Bowe is set to hit the market and become a free agent and the only thing that may wind up bringing him back to Kansas City is that there are quite a few good potential receivers in the free agent market this offseason. Wes Welker, Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace are all scheduled to become free agents this offseason and while a good case could be made that Bowe is the best out of any of them, because he is not the only premier receiver on the market, it could inevitably drive his asking price down. If Bowe winds up being all about the contract and the money, there is a very real chance that he could wind up back with Kansas City, who can probably pay him what he wants to make. However, if he wants to play for a contender, Kansas City is not where he wants to be next season.
